    DESCRIPTION:

    The "Unveiling the Veil" workshop is a specialized training session designed for mental health professionals to explore the unique challenges Black women face regarding racial trauma and workplace-related stressors. This workshop aims to enhance the cultural competence of mental health practitioners, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to provide sensitive and effective support to their Black female clients.

    The workshop will combine didactic presentations, case studies, interactive discussions, and role-playing exercises. Mental health professionals will have the opportunity to engage in reflective discussions and apply newly acquired knowledge through practical scenarios. Dr. Clack will lead the workshop offering evidence-based insights and best practices.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

    This workshop is designed to help participants:

    • Deepening insights into the intersectionality of race and gender, and how it impacts the mental health of Black women.
    • Developing culturally sensitive approaches to therapy and counseling for Black female clients dealing with racial and workplace trauma.
    • Identifying and addressing subtle forms of racism in professional settings and how it affects the mental well-being of Black women.
    • Exploring therapeutic interventions and coping strategies tailored to the experiences of Black women in the face of adversity.
    • Encouraging mental health professionals to be advocates for change and empowerment within the mental health system and beyond.
    • Strategies for mental health practitioners to establish supportive and inclusive environments for Black women in therapy.
    • Integrating trauma-informed practices into therapy sessions to address the effects of racial and workplace trauma.

    In this online lecture, we will be discussing psychopharmacology over the last decade. The topics will include new medication for psychiatric conditions approved for use in the last decade. It will address psychiatric indications. It will also include the risks, benefits, side effects and alternative treatments available.  

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 

    Attendees will be able to identify the following:

    1.        Awareness of new medication on the market

    2.        Understanding of the indications for the medication

    3.        Alertness to potential side effects
